Instrument Flight Training

I thought that I would give a quick update on what I’ve been up to since my last post. I started instrument training a few weeks ago and am having a blast! I was weathered out and then sick for about 3 weeks but am back up in the air and having a good time. I am currently practicing basic attitude flying, timed and compass turns and partial panel.

For those of you that don’t know, partial panel is what it is called when some of your instruments, most commonly the gyroscopic, fail and you are required to use other instruments in place of the inoperative ones.

I have a lot to learn before I’m shooting an approach to minimums, or even shooting one in general but my flying is becoming more precise and my control inputs are much smoother than before.

Well, that’s it for me for now, until next time.

Fly safe!

Are you just drained after a flight?  I assume you are under the hood the whole time.  I know that an hour under the hood can really drain me mentally.  Sounds like fun.  Keep plugging along.  :)

You know, I’m always challenged on a flight but I don’t find myself totally drained like I did during primary training. Out of an hour flight, I spend about 45 minutes under the hood.
